Valentine's DayTop 5 Romantic Classical Music Albumsby Aaron Green Dinner for two by candlelight, a walk on the beach, cuddling by the the fire and watching the stars are all very romantic things to do, but something very important is missing - the music! Like a movie, a good moment becomes a magical moment with the right soundtrack. This crosscut of classical romantic music will provide you a wide selection of music from which to choose. There are so many great recordings on this CD, it's almost too good to be true. I have no doubt that you'll fall in love with this album. Not only is it great for candlelight dinners and snuggling with your loved one by the fire, but perfect for a break from a stress-filled day. This album features a great mix of composers from the romantic period including Beethoven, Debussy, Mahler, Dvorák, Barber, Rachmaninoff, and even Mozart. It's easy listening, non-distracting, and perfect for romance. A very good friend of mine who sings soprano at a renowned music school recommended this album. She said she "absolutely, without a doubt, loves this album." Well, after reviewing it, I think it is great too! It will probably be added to my collection in a very short while. It features many of the greatest sopranos of all time singing the greatest arias of all time. You'll find that several pieces made my list of romantic opera music, and hopefully, they'll make yours too. A few of the songs that made my list of romantic orchestral pieces are on this CD. The only problem I have with it is that a couple of tracks are sub-par in quality and don't really seem to be romantic. The orchestration of Bach's "Air on a G String" is unbalanced and sounds a bit "metallic". Despite it's flaws, I highly recommend this album. It's often hard to find a decent compilation album of classical music when it can be interpreted and performed in so many ways. There's nothing more beautiful to me than the sound of a cello. If you love the cello as much as I do, you'll love this album. Many of the romantic songs that are on the previous albums have been orchestrated for solo cello. Several songs are less romantic than others, but as I said before, it really just comes down to personal taste. This album is a definite for any romantic collection. Don't let the title of the album fool you into thinking that every track is 'romantic' as in 'romance'. The title has a duel meaning; Romanitic Period piano music, and romantic piano music. I recommend this album because several of the pieces made my list of romantic piano music, plus, you'll get to hear other pieces you might have never heard. |
